The blending of learning methods, techniques and resources applied in an interactive learning environment.
It is clear that for a meaningful learning experience to take place it requires the blending of a number of different forms of learning such as classroom face to face with distance learning through an e-learning application. In addition this also applies to diferent technology platforms from computers to mobile phones and PDA’s.
Blended learning offers both the learner and trainer the ability to work effectively at their own pace, using their own learning style and level.
It positions the learner to take responsibility for their training giving them the ability to take decisions, be creative whilst investigating and exploring solving problems as they would normally due in real life.
The trainer can act as a facilitator, supervisor, assessor during the learning process as well as ensuring that the learning material is presented all all the appropriate formats (read, interact, visualise).
The process of carrying out training is dependant on the training in question which means that the mixture of different interactions can incorporate classroom training with ongoing support from an e-learning environment.
